SUBJECT: Speaking at the SHARE 65.5 Conference
1. I request permission to appear before a non-Government group as

2. When approved, I will speak in a panel discussion at the SHARE 65.5
Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, during the week of 10 November. I will be
attending the conference as a representative of the Agency. The audience is
expected to be comprised of up to 125 people from the United States and Canada
representing organizations running large IBM computers. The meeting will be held at
the Snowbird Resort; the risk to employee safety is minimal. Members of the press
are barred from attending sessions at this conference.
3. None of the material to be discussed is classified or controversial. The
presentation will be:
3090 User Experience. Participants in the early support program for the
new IBM 3090 processor will describe their experience with the system. The
other speaker will be from the IBM corporation.
As the project leader responsible for the software component of the 3090 early
support program at the Agency, I am qualified to give the presentation. My remarks
will be extemporaneous. An outline is attached. The Agency runs one of the largest
VM computer systems in the world. It is through the visibility we enjoy in organiza-
tions such as SHARE that we are able to attract skilled computer scientists to the
Agency, as well as to influence the decisions of the computer vendors upon whom
we are dependent.
