STATE EMPLOYEES SENTENCED
FOR BLACKMARKETEERING IN TEXTILES, MEAT
SPECULATORS PUNISHED -- Express Wieczorny, no 77, 18 Mar 50
T. Kurasz, warehouse manager of the Central Textile Office, was sentenced
in Poznan to 3 years in prison for abuse in the distribution of goods, and
S. Marszalek, a merchant who purchased the goods from Kurasz for-half a mil-
lion zlotys, was sentenced to prison and fined one million zlotys. The court
also sentenced A. Kruczkowski, inspector of the wholesale dealers of the Cen-
tral Textile Office in Gdansk, and the director of trade of the Central Tex-
tile Office in Lodz to 5 and 6 years in prison for receiving 800,000 zlotys in
bribes from a buyer.
Trial will begin in Warsaw against Neuman, a delegate of the Central Tex-
tile Office, for taking 3 million zlotys in bribes from private enterprises::'
In Lublin, H. Abramek will be tried for tricking his fellow office workers
of their identification papers to buy material in their place for resale at a
profit.
GUARDS SENTENCED FOR STEALING -- Ilustrowany Kurier Polski, No 92, 2 Apr 50
The Special Lodz Commission meted out prison sentences up to 2 years to
three guards of the State Cotton Mill No 1 in Lodz for collusion with employees
who were stealing yarn from the mill. The guards charged 1,500 zlotys for each
transaction.
EXPOSE LARGE-SCALE FRAUD -- Dziernik polski, No 67, 9 Mar 50
The Dolny Slask Special Commission is conducting an investigation in the
case of Roman Organiszczak, former manager of the store of the Central Textile
Office in Nova Sol, Kozuchow Powiat, who sold large amounts of textiles worth
several million zlotys to private speculators and covered his manipulations by
making false entries in the books.

TEXTILE SPECULATORS GET PRISON TERMS -- Rzeczpospolita, No 98, 10 Apr 50
The Lodz Court of Appeals in a circuit session in Piotrkow sentenced Zofia
Wardzinska to 5 years in prison and imposed a 50,000-zloty fine for blackmar-
keteering in textiles.
The Court of Appeals in Lublin sentenced Marian Piechucki, finance officer
of the Wojewodztwo Industrial Bureau in Lublin, to 10 years in prison for tak-
ing 240,000 zlotys in bribes in connection with the sale of bricks to private
persons.
The Court of Appeals in Rzeszow sentenced leslaw patuch, aua residentaof

The Court of Appeals in Wroclaw in a special session sentenced Aleksander
Czurapski from Swidnica, owner of a junk yard concession, to 6 years in prison
for dismantling, breaking, and transporting machines and equipment from a brick-
yard in Swidnica to his place of business. As the result of his action, the
State Treasury lost 2 million zlotys._
Before the Wroclaw Court of Appeals in its final session in Jelenia Gora,
Zbiegniew Labenda and Leon Lemieszewski were sentenced to 7 and 3 years in
prison respectively. Labenda, as purchasing agent for the Kowarska Mine Coop-
erative Store, appropriated 300 kilograms of butter worth 210,000 zlotys and
sold it to Lemieszewski for 188,500 zlotys.
GUILTY OF MISAPPROPRIATING FUNDS -- Trybuna Ludu, No 94, 4 Apr 50
Stanislaw Sawicki, former director of the State Home for Children No 2 in
Wroclaw, was sentenced to 9 years in prison for misappropriating funds intended
for the maintenance of the home.
The Court of Appeals in Poznan charged Anton Kofrylow, former director of
the Polish enterprise Polska Wiklina in Strzyzew, with purchasing an inferior
grade of osier from private growers and arranging the resale of the osier to
Polska Wiklina as top grade.
The Court of Appeals in Bialystok tried Mikolaj Lenkiewicz, former branch
manager of the Central Marketing Office for Textile Raw Materials, and coworkers
for purchasing raw materials from farmers as low grade and upgrading them for re-
sale to state factories.
SENTENCED TO FORCED LABOR CAMPS -- Glos Wielkopolski, No 62, 4 Mar 50
A Special Commission in Poznan sentenced six persons to forced labor camps
for various offenses. Antoni,Kuzma was sentenced to 2 years for illegal
slaughter of cattle and for making and selling sausage from this meat without
veterinary health inspection.
Franciszek Jenuchowski from Ochodza, Wagrowiec Powiat, a grader at the Meat
Establishments in Janowiec, was sentenced to 6 months for falsifying expense ac-
counts.
Borys Gelerstein from Wroclaw was sentenced to 6 months for illegally sell-
ing hides in the free market.

Waclaw Hentschel, manager of the office of Special Transportation in Kalisz,
was sentenced to one year for misappropriating 66,000 zlotys, and for turning
over galvanized sheets, an allocated materials, to a private party. He also
used service vehicles for transporting private persons, often at a charge.
Lech Machai of Poznan was sentenced to 9 months for dealing in leather
tanning without permission.
