In response to an order for five large direct-current generators for the
Volga-Don Canal project, to be completed by the end of January, the Leningrad
Elektrosila PL_. imeni S. M. Kirov has shipped nine excellent-quality gen-
erators, thus exceeding its order by four generators.

The builders of the Volga-Don Canal have asked the Leningrad Elektrosila
Plant to speed up the manufacture of medium power generators. The plant has
delivered the first consignment of the order to the construction project
ahead of scb,dule, and is successfully completing the remaining generators.

The Leningrad Elektrosila Plant imeni S. M. Kirov has considerably ex-
panded its products list in the last few years. In 1941, the production of
five new-type hydrogeneratore, 45 types of large individually produced ma-
chines, and'complex equipment was organized. The output of bydrogenerators
and turbogenerators has more than doubled.
In the Hydro- and Turbogenerator Bureau, fasteners for iron parts sub-
ject to stress, hub and axle joints, and foundation slabs have been unified
to a considerable extent. Standard designs for hydrogeneratore, rolling -
equipment, and alternating current machines have been developed. Industrial
engineers, in cr- ration with designers, are shortening production time by
complex mechanization of work.

Owing to the new methods of designing, the products list used for output
has been reduced by 30 percent.
The substitution of lose costly types of electrical engineering steel
for expensive ones has made it possible to save 100,000 rubles. Also, a
great saving has been made by the use of less expensive mica and substitutes
for mica.
Using new methods of planning, the brigade of K. Vakurov, Stalin Prize
winner, has saved about 500 tons of metal for the hydrogenerator of the
Tsimlyanaka GES project. Plant Stakhanovites and engineers lowered the
cost of a 100,000-kilowatt turbogenerator by 20 percent. Plant designers,
headed by Engineer K. Aleksandrovich, have found a method of saving dozens
of tons of ferrous and nonferrous metals.

The Leningrad Elektrosila Plant imeni S. M. Kirov has completed, ahead
of schedule, first quarter 1952 orders for supplying electric machines to the
Volga-Don Canal project. Assemblers, working with the Tsimlyanskaya GES proj-
dct designers, are assembling hydrogenerators.

The Yerevan Electrical Machine Building Plant recently shipped a new con-
signment of generators to the Volga-Don Canal project as part of the third
quarter 1952 quota.
The plant is likewise shipping its products ahead of schedule to the
Stalingrad and Kuybyshev GES projects, and to the Main Turkmv-n Canal project.
Since the beginning of 1952, more than 100 transformers have been shipped to
the large conatr,+ction projects.

In 1951, the Yerevan Electrical Machine Building Plant shipped ahead of
schedule 213 transformers of various types to construction projects such as
the Volga-Don Canal and Kuybyshev GES projects. All orders were fulfilled
from li to 3 months ahead of time,
BUILDS TRANSFCBMERS FOR PROJECT -- Kishinev, Sovetskaya Moldaviya, 23 Mar 52
The Zaporozh'ye Transformer Plant recently delivered a shipment of powerful,
transformers to the Volga-Don Canal project.
SUPPLIES PROJECTS WITH POWER EQUIPMENT -- Riga, Sovetskaya Latviya, 25 Mar 52
In March, the Moscow Transformer Plant imeni Kuybyshev shipped two powerful
transformers and more than 70 power units of various capacities to the Tsimlyan-
skaya GES and Volga-Don Canal projects. Also in March, the plant shipped more'
than 200 electric machines to the Kuybyshev GES project. The plant shops are
now completing plans for the shipment of a great number of transformers to the
Stalingra4 GES project.

SEND WELDING MACHII~S TO PROJECTS -- Moscow, Trud, 1 ).ar 52
The Leningrad Elektrik Plant ship+ied 28 transformers and seven welding
aggregates to the Kakhovka GS.: project in February.
A consignment of butt welding machines was shipped recently to the
Kuybyshev GIs project. Today, a consignment of spot welding machines was
shipped to the Stalingrad GES project.
Recently, the plant started producing a powerful welding generator. The
plant has premised to finish the new generator, designated for the construction
projects, by 1 May.
SHIP MOTORS, CONTROL EQUIF4ENT -- Moscow, Pravda, 1 Mar 52
Almost every day the Moscow Dinamo slant ships electric motors for ex-
cavating machines to the Novo-Kramatorsk Plant imeni Stalin, the Sverdlovsk
Uralmash Plant, and the GES projects.
The plant built and shipped, 2 months ahead of schedule, 16 panels for
automatic control of the locks of the Volga-Don Canal.
Plant Stakhanovites have changed the entire process of assembling auto-
matic instruments.
Laying out of bus bars, formerly done by hand, in now done by a special
automatic press, which speeds up the work by at least four times. Operations
in the assembly of panels which formerly required half a shift now take only
1+J hours.
MAKES EARLY SHIPMENT OF CABLE -- Kiev, Pravda Ukrainy, 21 Mar 52
In response to an appeal, the Yerevan Cable Plant has shipped excellent-
quality products to the Zaporozhstal' Plant and the Zaporozh'ye construction
project ahead of schedule.
