Commodity production went up 55 percent, output of tractor spare parts 75 percent, and labor productivity 60 percent. During the same period, working capital turnover was accelerated 14 days and 635,000 rubles were released. The plan figure for the entire year is 818,000 rubles. The Automobile Plant imeni Stalin, Moscow, has reachel 1950 levels in a number of sections. New forging, casting, and pressing equipment has been made and put into operation, and over 300 machine tools have been switched to high-speed operating schedules. The production cycle has been shortened, and income has risen above planned figures. The parts in the gear box are more durable than on the old model. The rear fork is equipped with oil shock absorbers, permitting higher speeds on rough roads. The handle bare are mounted firmly on two supports. The greater power of the engine permits the optional addition of a second seat, INNOVATIONS AT CARBURETOR PLANT -- Vechernyyaya Moskva, No 229, 26 Sep 49 A high-powered machine for pressure casting has been tested at the Carburetor Plant; the shell and cover of the carburetor are removed from At the heat-treatment section of the plant, automatic instruments help maintain a specified temperature in the furnaces. A new furnace for gas case- hardening of parts has cut heat-treatment time to one fourth that previously required. The Carburetor Plant is an affiliate of the Automobile Plant imeni Stalin. The old Bel'tay Machine-Tractor Shop has been completely rebuilt and is now a large motor-repair plant. The shops now have modern machine tools and other equipment. On 12 October a new 100-kilowatt electric power station will go into operation. The plant has built the station entirely on its own re- sources. F(H SPECTRAL ANALYSIS IN TRACTOR PLAITS -- Sovatekaya Moldaviya, No 189, 20 Sep 49 During the first days of the autumn harvest at the Chimiebliyskaya, Bayaarskay+a, and Rcmanovskaya MPS, part of the tractors were put out of cqm- mieeion as result of burn.-)d-out bearings, worn piston rings, and broken gears. Republic distribution bases, including the "Selkhozenab" (Agricultural Supply), hare been sending the stations metal which does not bear a grade mark. Spectral analysis is not carried out in a single natal-working enterprise in Moldavia. Facilities for spectral analysis must therefore be set up as soon as possible in such centers as Kishinev, Tiraspol', Beadery, and Belotsy.
