UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO : Deputy Director of Training (G) FROM : Chief, Intelligence Training Division SUBJECT: Weekly Report DATE: 30 July 1953 Submitted herewith is the report for the week ending 30 July: 1. On Tuesday the registrar reported that there were 53 persons registered for BIC(I) #12, starting 3 August. Yesterday, however, the registration was reported as 49. It looks as if the class would run somewhere around 50. 2. During the past week the trainees in BIC #11 heard. talks by Mr. Richard Scammon and'Dr. Miron Burgin of the Department of State. 3? rent BIC CS . and I gave presentations this week to the cur- 25X1 4. There are 11 persons in the Provisional Training Group. Seven of these are JCT's, three are from OCD, and one from TSS. 5. The Reading Improvement Branch currently has 126 trainees enrolled in 7 training courses, 1 Reading Analysis Program, and 1 Retention Program. 6. The two-week Reading Analysis Program for Provisionally Cleared Personnel was completed 29 July. This program was pre- viously called the Screening Program, but the name has been chan ed g to avoid misinterpretation of the course objective. 7. Twelve trainees in BIC 0611 have been selected for a week of advanced training. Instruction will include practice in the scanning techniques for the selection of information, the utiliza- tion of reading skills for full exploitation of professional study, and the reading techniques most useful in the preparation of an abstract.
