hanged for taking part in a conspiracy to overthrow Stalin. There appears

Berlin, 3 May (DPA) - During April, 127 members of the People's Police
fled to Weat Berlin, tks highest number to desert during any one moat':.
Allied sources in Berlin report that 944 members of the People's Police
have fled the Soviet Zone since June 1950? Nearly 50 percent of these left
their unite and service~etationa in the German Democratic Republic during
the first 4 months of 1951,

On 31 March 1951, seven directors and leading officials of the Social
Insurance Association for tnueringea were ivnnd guilty of economic sabotege
by an East German court in Gotha. The principal dcferdant, Heinrich Georg,
president of the association, wee sentenced to 12 years', forced labor.
The other defendants received sentences of from 3 i,o 9 Years at forced labor.

TRIFS ECONOMIC CRIMINALS -- Berlin, Taegliche Rundschau, 28 Mar 51
On 28 March 1951 the following econa?ic criminals will be tried by the
Superior Criminal Court in Rostock. Johannes Bundfuse and ;,is wife; Richard
Heinrich, Jochen Kurth, Hans Sievert, Dr Christian Huenlich, Heizenroither
(fnu), Charlotte Schullte, and Reinhold Schmidt. These persons are accused
of having cheated the state out of millions of Deutsche marks, for the bene-
fit of the former Rtieckforth concern.
