No decision has yet been made in selecting a name for the new unified organi-
sation of Czechoslovak scientific and technical societies, The SIA ~ociety of
Engineers and Technicians7 proposed Ustredni technic~ky Svaz (Central technical as~
sociation); we proposed Vedeckoutechnicky.Svaz (Scientific-technical association)
or scientific-technical community CSR. The organization committee of thw Society
of Engineers and Technicians (SIA) has worked out a proposal for the statutes of
the future scientific-technical organization (which we will call VTO hereafter).
This proposal was discussed in the technical section of the organization committee
of the Central Action Committee of the National Front. According to this proposal
the VTO is supposed to have a vertical structure (that is, according to technical
branches) and a horizontal structure (for common tasks). In the vertical organ'-
nation the following branches or sections were agreed upon and will be submitted
to all technical societies, institutiond and other interested parties:

3. Casting

The original proposal of the SIA also included societies for economic science
and practice, and for graphical technic, and a transportation society divided into
automobile, railroad, aviation and navigation branches. It also included socie?
ties for mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, geology, etc.
For the horizontal structure of the VTO the following departments were agreed
upon;
