Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Ambassador Cutler was born 25 November 1931, in
Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Wesleyan
University (B.A., 1953) and Fletcher School of Law and
Diplomacy (M.A., 1954). He served in the United States
Army in 1954-1956 prior to entering the Foreign Service.
He was a Consular Officer in Yaounde in 1957-1959. At the
Department he was Foreign Affairs Officer in the Executive
Secretariat (1959-1961) and Staff Assistant to the
Secretary of State (1961-1962). He was the Political
Officer in Algiers (1962-1965), Principal Officer in
Tabriz, Iran (1965-1967), a Political Officer in Seoul,
Korea (1967-1969) and Saigon (1969-1971).
From 1971-1973 Ambassador Cutler was the Special
Assistant in the Eastern Asian Bureau for the Department
of State. He attended the Senior Seminar at the Foreign
Service Institute in 1973-1974. He was Director of
Central African Affairs in the Department 1974-1975 and
served as Ambassador to Zaire in 1975-1979. He was Deputy
Assistant Secretary of State for Congressional Relations
in 1981. From 1981-1983 he served as Ambassador to
Tunis. In February 1984 Ambassador Cutler arrived in
Saudi Arabia to assume the position of U.S. Ambassador.
Ambassador Cutler is married to the former Isbel Kugel
Brookfield. He has three children from a previous
marriage.

Marion Virgil Creekmore
Deputy Assistant Secretary for Arabian Penninsula,
Gulf North and Economic Affairs
Mr. Creekmore was born 8 January 1939 in Tennessee. He
graduated from Vanderbilt University (B.A. 1961) and Tulane
University (M.A. 1963, PHD 1963). Following his academic
studies, Mr. Creekmore was an instructor at Tulane University
1963-64. He joined the Department of State in December 1964.
His first overseas assignment as a foreign service officer was
in Pretoria 1965-1966. He later served as an economic officer
in Accra, Ghana, and Bonn, Germany and'at the Department of
State in Washington. In January 1978, Mr. Creekmore was
detailed to the Department of Energy for a one-year
assignment. In January 1979 he was appointed Deputy Assistant
Secretary for Economic - Development Policy. Prior to his
present assignment at the Department of State Mr. Creekmore was
Deputy Chief of Mission - Minister Counsular in New Delhi,
India since August 1981. He was awarded the Superior Honor
Award from the Department in 1976.
