MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
8 March 19 67
1. About 15 Februar Eli abe~A i the DCI's office, said she had
received a call from who is writing a graduate thesis
on some aspect a intelligence and wished some assistance. I called
and advised that Mr. Helms' office had turned the matter
over to me and he sent me the attached correspondence on 18 February.
2. On 7 March. I spoke to apologizing for the delay
in getting back to him. I said that there was really nothing we could
tell him on the subject, because of the high classification attendant on
matters a this kind. ?
3. I suggested that write to William R. Harris at
Harvard Center for International Affairs, without mentioning our name,
as Mr. Harris was producing a bibliography on intelligence with sections
on electronic intelligence and on disarmament and inspection intelligence.
These sections of the Harvard bibliography contain a good number of
titles not on ;:.iblipgraphy. I also pointed out to him, in
connection with his syllabus, that while there might be new and esoteric
moans for intelligence collection, this in no way reduced classical need
for careful evaluation and analysis and estimating of the material
collected.
