Having no other alternative but to join the cooperative and after
signing e document of which they do nct even know the contents, they
give up their entire land, livestock, and farm implements.
Farmers and peasants, who possess only small amounts c:? land and one-
head of livestock are also subject to this procedure.
Government Food ',Varehouses
The farmers are compelled to turn in to the Government food ware-
houses the entire output of their land.
During work, they are ?Pa~7.trhed by members or the pcli ce force wind,
inter ^li a , have the task of reporting to the cooperatives all
absentees so that a day's pay can be withheld for each day of absen-
teeism.
Di stribut l_on of Products
The products gathered in the government food warehouses are dis-
tri b!?ted in proportion to the number of ww ork-days put it by the members
of the cooperative, who must pay for their nuotas with the 72 dinars
which they receive daily for working for the cooperative. This armunt
is absolutely insufficient to cover the needs of an average fani1y.
In distributing thise products , no consider-ition is iven to the
s_i' e of families, but to the number of work days put in .
This type of livestock is taken over by the cooperative and the
proprietors lose all rights to it.
Livestock for Slaughter
This livestock is slaughtered and distributed 'i n tar_tum among
the members in very small amounts.
