10 The Northeast Pevle's Nem (Tong Puk In Min Pon) is the principal
propaganda organ for the northeast sector of Korea. It is printed in
Manchuria by the North Korean government with paper, type and machinery
received from the USSR. The printing plant is also a source of hand-
bills printed in English for propaganda work against the UN forces.
2, Before the removal of MacArthur, the Northeast People's News printed
a long editorial claiming that Communists in the U.S. and liberal
people throughout the world would not agree with MacArthur's idea of
bombing Manchuria,
3. North Korean propaganda to offset the withdrawals by the Communist
armies follows the line that the North Koreans are thinking of the
farmers and are retreating so they will be able to use the land to
produce food, Some high-ranking North Korean leaders are talking of
sanding their families to Manch.a.
4. North Korean and Chinese Communist political commiosars claim that
Stalin knows what is happening in the world and will not lose in either
war or peace,
Comment,. The general public in North Korea is not affected by
government propaganda. The general tendency is to disbelieve anything
printed in the Northeast Peoplsajm.
