Yours is a tough act to follow! You and Seweryn clearly
demonstrated that an integrated perspective is a most effective
way of providing an overview and understanding of the
foundations, processes and goals of the Soviet system. I only
regret that I wasn't able to sit in more on what the students
(and Dick and Jane) have said was an extraordinary seminar that
provided a succinct and clear appreciation for Gorbachev's
program, and the historical, cultural and systemic constraints
to its realization.
The early returns are in the rave category, and Jane has
promised to send you specific feedback from written critiques.
We thank you, and look forward to your participation again in
the Fall.
