2. ( Confidential - DDS) Mr. Allen Lesser in the office of
Senator Jacob J. Javits (R., N. Y.) called to complain about the fact
that the FBIS White Book contained little or no information on the current
Cairo Conference for African unity. I delivered the three latest editions
from the FBIS daily report for the Middle East to Mr. Lesser's office
with an admonition concerning the OFFICIAL USE ONLY designation.

4. (Internal Use Only - JSW) Talked with Mr. William Jordan who
indicated he had spoken to Senator Russell and said he would try to set a time
during the morning to meet with the DCI in the afternoon.
Later Bill Jordan called and said the Senator simply would not be
able to meet with the Director. I indicated I would check the Director's
calendar for later in the week and be back in touch.

5. Upon getting an indication from
Air Force L&L that the Missing Persons bill might be on the agenda
of the Senate Armed Services tomorrow morning, I talked with William
Darden asking if it would be helpful to place in the record a letter to the
Chairman from the Director which we had discussed earlier. Darden
advised that this was not necessary since he did not believe the Committee
would be able to meet tomorrow morning.
