( Confidential - DDS) Mr. Allen Lesser in the office of Senator Jacob J. Javits (R., N. Y.) called to complain about the fact that the FBIS White Book contained little or no information on the current Cairo Conference for African unity. I delivered the three latest editions from the FBIS daily report for the Middle East to Mr. Lesser's office with an admonition concerning the OFFICIAL USE ONLY designation. X1 50X1 4. (Internal Use Only - JSW) Talked with Mr. William Jordan who indicated he had spoken to Senator Russell and said he would try to set a time during the morning to meet with the DCI in the afternoon. Later Bill Jordan called and said the Senator simply would not be able to meet with the Director. I indicated I would check the Director's calendar for later in the week and be back in touch. Upon getting an indication from Air Force L&L that the Missing Persons bill might be on the agenda of the Senate Armed Services tomorrow morning, I talked with William Darden asking if it would be helpful to place in the record a letter to the Chairman from the Director which we had discussed earlier.
