. This Division has an outstanding requirement for a personal-carried
audio oscillator to be used in conjunction with ELINT presence receivers. 25X1
The intent of the oscillator is to enable to approximate the PRF of 25X1
an intercepted radar by matching the frequency of the audio oscillator to that
of the radar. This Division has conducted preliminary investigations to deter-
mine the desirable characteristics of such an oscillator and has arrived at the
following as operational requirements:
A. The size should not be in excess of 3 x 2x 1 inches;
B. Frequency range: 30 - 3000 CPS;
C. Frequency stability: 5% between the limits of 0-C.4..
D. Calibration accuracy: 10% at the low end and 5% at the high end;
E. Output wave form: Pulse;
F. Connections: (1) presence receiver input ?
(2) Miniature headphone output;
G. Manual Controls: (1) pushbutton on/off switch
(2) frequency control
(3) output level (if practical);
2. It is requested that your Division undertake the design and construc-
tion of two oscillators conforming to the operational characteristics as des-
cribed above. Should your laboratory models prove successful in local field
evaluations, it is anticipated that a contract for twenty-five additional oscil-
lators will be instigated with your models serving as prototypes. Should your
Division desire additional information concerning the intended use or operational
characteristics required, reference is made to the ELINT Activities Branch of
this Division (2718 Alcott Hall,
