1. On 9 December, representatives of the Analysis
Division, EAG, briefed SEO on the AD program and the STARS and
SASS computer systems. The briefing took place at Key building
and was attended by about 20 members of the SEO Staff.

3. On 6 December, a DSB officer provided security support

during his appearance before the Senate Select Committee on
Narcotics Abuse and Drugs.
4. On 1 December, DC/HSD and C/OSDO met with Computer
Science Corporation (CSC) personnel on the status of the
enhancements of the PASS System. They have been divided
into three phases with the first to be in effect on 31
December and the third by 1 June 1989. The software is
currently being treated and should be ready for the first
phase target date of 31 December. On 9 December a briefing
was held to demonstrate the system menus and other
technical aspects. The contractor is confident of meeting
their 31 December deadline for phase one implementation.
5. The Information Security Technology Assessment

support of joint ISG/ORD projects.

Awareness Training Program (ISAT) presented the initial
running of Information Systems Security for Users and
Information Systems Security for Managers. Each course
was attended by 30 students and was well received. The
courses are designed to provide an overview of system security
principles and policies and will be offered several times in
1989.

from the Defense Intelligence College for a tour and
briefing of the CIA Operation Center; 15 Deans of the
various colleges attending a briefing by Judge Webster;
and 45 participants for the Brookings Luncheon and
Briefing.

will eventually be connected to the Agency's mainframe
system.
? Twenty-three Independent Contractor candidates were
interviewed for positions as escorts by the Escort
Section. All were recommended for continued processing.

II. Critical Issues:
? On 1 December, DC/HSD and C/OSDO met with Computer

III. Planned Activities:
? The reception area in the New Headquarters Building
fourth floor entrance is now ready for occupancy. During
the next two months Chief Reception Staff will be
conducting a survey of visitors to that entrance. It is
anticipated that the volume should reach a level
sufficient to require a receptionist to man that area by
the latter part of January 1989.
? Meetings continue to be held with Engineering Division
representatives and contractors working on the Request
for Proposal (RFP) for the Automated Badge Management
System. Constructive suggestions for improving the RFP
have been received from Engineering Division management

? Badging of summer employees will continue with
approximately 32 individuals returning this week.
? PASS related difficulties have arisen with some badges
created for the Receptionist Section in 1987, and
discussions are being held with. CSC and MARTEC
