1. This is background information for your trip to Orlando, Florida on
26-27 January to address the American Bankers Association (ABA) National
Security and Risk Management Conference on Wednesday, 27 January, attend a VIP
dinner t fight before, and a private breakfast prior to your address.
47will accompany you on the trip. Chief of the Monetary Division,
STAT Office of Finance, will attend the breakfast and your address. All
events will be held at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Hotel at 1 Grand
Cypress Boulevard. Phone: (305) 239-1234. A business suit is appropriate
for all events.
2. VIP Dinner, Tuesday, 26 January: You are asked to be outside the
Grand Cypress a room rooms D, E, an F at 7:30 p.m. where you will be met by
your hosts Harold Vogel, Chairman of the Conference and Vice President of
Citizen & Southern Corporation of Atlanta, and Ed Hall, Manager of the ABA
Security & Risk Management Division and escorted to the VIP dinner. (See tab
for biographies.) The dinner will be held at the Hyatt, but the restaurant in
the hotel is yet to be determined. You will be seated between Mr. Vogel and

4. Meeting and Address of the American Bankers Association National
Security and Risk Management Conference, Wednesday, 27 January: You are
requested to be at the Grand Cypress Ballroom at 8:45 a.m. where you will be
met by Mr. Vogel and escorted to a reserved table near the stage steps. You
will be seated with Mr. Hall. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
with opening remarks by Mr. Vogel followed by Norman Rodgers and John Bryne
(the Federal Legislative Counsel for the ABA) giving an update on ABA
Government Relations. Mr. Vogel will introduce you at 9:25 a.m. and your
speech is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. The suggested format is 20 minutes of
remarks followed by 10 minutes of questions and answers. Adjournment is at
10:00 a.m. A standing podium and microphone will be available. Security will
tape your remarks for the Agency's historical records. The Conference has
requested that copies of your speech be made available on request from the
attendees.
You can expect an audience of approximately 600 bankers, consultants,
insurance brokers, regulators, academicians from across the nation. The
bankers who attend are typically middle to senior level executives responsible
for security, including data security, and risk management in their banks.
Although the media will cover the conference, they will not participate in the
question and answer period. Coverage will be primarily by ABA publications,
banking magazines and the local paper, ORLANDO SENTINEL.
This is the seventh ABA National Security and Risk Management Conference.
The purpose of these conferences is to create a forum for the exchange of
.ideas, and to disseminate information to the risk managers of the financial
services industry (primarily banks). The theme for this conference is "How
risk managers can control bank losses through the active management of risk
situations." (For further information and complete agenda see program in
front pocket.) The National Security and Risk Management Committee is
considered a new and influential group in the banking industry.
Other featured speakers of the conference are Dr. Robert Samp from the
University of Wisconsin "How to Live to Be 100" and Jerry Stogniew, President,
Stogniew and Associates "Risk Management for the Community Banker." Last
year's keynote speaker was Dr. George L. Head, Director, Risk.: Management
Education, Insurance Institute of America.
