Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/08/18: CIA-RDP78TO5698A000100010040-2 Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/08/18: CIA-RDP78TO5698A000100010040-2 Top Secret RUFF Deployment of 152mm Self-Propelled Guns to Soviet Tank Division (S) (TSR) Three 152mm self-propelled (SP) guns M-1973, four armored command vehicles (ACVs) M-1974, and a probable BMP (armored personnel carrier) M-1975 were identified in the artillery regiment area of Kyakhta Tank Division Headquarters/SA-6 Regiment/Barracks AL 1 A probable 152mm SP gun 25X1 and a probable ACV M-1974 were parked in the artillery regiment area This was 25X1 the first observation of a 152mm SP gun at this installation. Figure 2 shows a 152mm SP gun M-1973 and Figure 3 shows an ACV M-1974. (S/WNINTEL) Soviet tank divisions are equipped with 122mm towed howitzers. This is the first known deployment of 152mm guns of any type to a Soviet tank division. (S) Kyakhta Tank Division Headquarters/SA-6 Regiment/Barracks AL 1 is im- mediately north of the USSR-Mongolia Border in the Transbaykal Military District.
