SEBHA TRAINING FACILITY EAST (SWN)
1 . SIGNIFICANCE: THIS IS THE FIRST OBSERVATION O F TRAINING
ACTIVITY, UTILIZING BTR-60PB ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIERS
(APC), BY A PROBABLE DISSIDENT FORCE IN LIBYA. (SWN)
2.1 REMARKS: IMAGERY OF REVEALED TWO BTR-60PB APC BEING 25X1
USED FOR DRIVER TRAINING BY PROBABLE DISSIDENTS. A GROUP
OF PERSONNEL WAS ALSO PRESENT AT THE DRIVER TRAINING AREA,
PROBABLY TO VIEW THE ACTIVITY. FOUR BTR-60PB APC WERE
NEWLY IDENTIFIED HERE ON AND HAD REMAINED PARKED 25X1
WITHIN THE TRAINING FACILITY. THE BTR-60PB APC ARE THE
FIRST ARMORED VEHICLES OBSERVED AT THIS DISSIDENT TRAINING
FACILITY. THE TRAINING AND ORIENTATION PROGRAM OBSERVED
AT THE FACILITY, SUGGESTS A LIBYAN INTENTION TO PROVIDE
MORE SOPHISTICATED MILITARY EQUIPMENT TO CHADIAN OR OTHER
DISSIDENT FORCES. IN THE PAST, LANDROVERS AND JEEPS HAVE
BEEN THE MAIN VEHICLES SEEN AT THIS FACILITY AND WITH
DISSIDENT FORCES IN LIBYA. (SWN) 25X1
