SIGNIFICANCE: THE SOVIETS ARE PROBABLY EXPORTING TANKS TO A
THIRD WORLD COUNTRY FROM THIS PACIFIC COAST PORT. COUNTRIES -
WITH A PACIFIC COAST PORT AND SOVIET TANKS IN THEIR INVENTORIES
THAT COULD BE LIKELY RECIPIENTS OF ADDITIONAL TANKS, INCLUDE
VIETNAM, CAMBODIA, NICARAGUA AND PERU. (SWN)
NONE WERE PRESENT THIRTY OF THE TANKS HAD 25X1
PROBABLY BEEN SHIPPED THE 13 TANKS REMAINING WERE 25X1
THE SAME TANKS FIRST SEEN AND HAVE NOT MOVED SINCE 25X1
THEN. NO MERCHANT CARGO SHIP WAS IMAGED AT OR NEAR THE QUAY ON
WHERE THE TANKS WERE PARKED. (SWN) 25X1
ANALYST'S COMMENTS -- IT, IS RARE TO SEE ARMORED VEHICLES AT THIS
PORT WHICH HANDLES MAINLY COMMERCIAL CARGO AND OCCASIONALLY SOME
MILITARY AIRCRAFT FOR EXPORT. ARMORED VEHICLES ARE USUALLY
SHIPPED FROM NIKOLAYEV PORT FACILITIES SOUTHI ION 25X1
THE BLACK SEA. THE SOVIETS' MAIN ARMS EXPORTING PORT. SWN
2. REMARKS: FORTY-THREE MEDIUM TANKS (POSSIBLY T-55'S) WERE ON THE
QUUAYAT VLADIVOSTOK PORT FACILITIES AWAITING 25X1
SHIPMENT. THIRTEEN OF THE TANKS WER E PRESENT AT THE PORT 25X1
