1. (S/D) SIGNIFICANCE: THE ENTIRE SEQUENCE OF AN SS-NX-20
SUBMARINE-LUNCHED BALLISTIC MISSILE (SLBM) LOADING OPERATION
IS IN PROGRESS.
2. (S/D) REMARKS: THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THE ENTIRE SEQUENCE OF
THE SS--NLOADING OPERATION HAS BEEN OBSERVED SINCE FLIGHT
TESTING OF THE SLBM BEGAN IN JANUARY 1980. THE ERECTOR-LOADER
WITH AT LEAST TWO OF THE THREE SECTIONS OF THE COVER ATTACHED
IS IN A FULLY ERECTED POSITION OVER THE LAUNCH TUBE. THE
ERECTOR-LOADER WAS IN THE DOWN POSITION AT 0758Z. A 19-METER
(SS-NX-20 ASSOCIATED) COVERED RAILCAR AND A LOCOMOTIVE ARE ON
THE RAIL LINE LEADING TO THE LAUNCH FACILITY. THEY WERE MOVED
INTO THIS POSITION BETWEEN 0758Z and 1145Z. A MOBILE CRANE IS
SOUTHEAST OF THE LAUNCH TUBE.

AN ADDITIONAL 19-METER COVERED RAILCAR AND A PROBABLE 19-METER
OPEN RAILCAR ARE ON THE SOUTH RAIL SPUR NEAR THE HIGH-BAY
BUILDING IN THE MISSILE SUPPORT AREA. BOTH OF THESE RAILCARS
WERE ON THE SPUR AT 0758 and 1145Z.
