NEW MICROWAVE RADIO RELAY STATIONS IN CANTON
MILITARY REGION, CHINA (S)
(S/WNINTEL) This report summarizes the construction of a system of microwave radio
relay (radrel) stations between Nan-ning and Canton in Canton Military Region, China
(Figure 1). This system, which consists of ten confirmed and three probable radrel stations
(Table 1) in an approximate east/west alignment covering about 470 kilometers, was ob-
served under development between December 1976 and December 1977.
(TSR) The first evidence of this system was observed
when five probable radrel stations were seen under construction. Three of these five
probable radrel stations may he complete- but they were not covered on 1977 imagery. On
ten radrel stations, including the
two remaining probable radrel stations, were externa y complete. Each confirmed station
consists of one control building with two roof-mounted microwave dishes and from five to 18
support buildings.
