445F AT NIKOLAYEV SHIPYARD NORTHERN 61 KOMMUNA 445, USSR (S)
I. (h SR) A comprehensive analysis of the 445F, the largest gas turbine warship in the Soviet
N,tvy and the second Soviet cruiser to carry four separate missile systems, was made from high-
quality imagery of' the Nikolayev Shipyard Northern 61 Kommuna 445. USSR.
?. (TSR) The 445F has an overall length of and a maximum beam of
meters. Its propulsion consists of' four boost engines and three cruise engines. Three of the
missile systems are surface to stir while the fourth is surface-to-surface cruise.
3. (TSR) The surface-to-air missiles are aft and probably represent the preferred Soviet filly
for high-value ships. The SA-NX-6 (the naval version of the SA-X-10) vveapons space is aft of the
stack and contains eight SA-NX-6 magazines with a probable total load of 64 SA NX 6 missiles. A
possible SA-X- II (naval version) wea ons space is between the helicopter hangar and the SA-NX-
6. It is wide and long. A base for a missile launcher is above the possible
SA-X- II weapons space and has a diameter ofTwo SA-N-4 positions are abeam the
helicopter hangar.
4. (TSR) Ten twin-tube cruise missile launcher deck mounts are in the area abeam the bridge
and forward deckhouse. Based on an analysis of these deck mounts, the launch tube dimensions
will he in diameter and in length. The specific cruise missile system to he
installed is unknown.
5. (TSR) Conventional weapons systems will include a naval gun and galling guns. I our
galling gun positions are amidships, forward of the stacks. A position for a large caliber naval gun
is on the fore deck. None of the guns has, as yet, been installed.
