PORT STANLEY AREA. FALKLAND ISLANDS
1. (S/D) SIGNIFICANCE: ARGENTINE OCCUPATION FORCES ON THE
FALKLAND ISLANDS HAVE IMPROVED DEFENSIVE POSITIONS AROUND
STANLEY, AND FIGHTER AND GROUND ATTACK AIRCRAFT HAVE DEPLOYED
TO STANLEY AIRFIELD.
2. (S/D) REMARKS: ARGENTINE AIRCRAFT DEPLOYED TO STANLEY
AIRFIELD INCLUDED ONE POSSIBLE SKYHAWK, FOUR
PUCARA (TWO ON RUNWAY), ONE F-28, ONE SKYVAN, TWO PROBABLE
CESSNA 150-TYPE AIRCRAFT, THREE CHINOOK, AND ONE PROBABLE UH-
1 (GRAPHIC 1 OF 2).
(S/D) I (ARGENTINA OCCUPATION FORCES
HAD CONSTRUCTED APPROXIMATELY 16 DEFENSIVE/WEAPONS POSITIONS
ON THE SOUTHERN OUTSKIRTS OF STANLEY (GRAPHIC 2 OF 2).
(S/D) ADDITIONAL DEFENSIVE MEASURES OBSERVED IN THE STANLEY
AREA INCLUDED TWO PROBABLE AAA SITES ON THE COAST
EAST OF STANLEY. IN THE MOODY BROOK AREA, 2.5 NM WEST OF
STANLEY, APPROXIMATELY 50 PROBABLE T - TS HAD BEEN
ERECTED (51-41-305 057-45-07W) ALSO BETWEEN
DEFENSIVE POSITIONS AND TRENCHING HAD BEEN
CONSTRUCTED 600 METERS NORTHWEST OF THE MOODY BROOK TENT CAMP
(51-51-055 057-45-45W).
