SIGNIFICANCE: A NEW PROBABLE ATTACK HELICOPTER (INTERIM DESIGNATOR TOM B), IS OBSERVED FOR THE FIRST TIME. (SWN) 2. REMARKS: THE TOM B, PARKED ON THE MAIN APRON IN THE MIL DESIGN BUREAU AREA, IS A MEDIUM HELICOPTER WHICH APPEARS TO BE SIMILAR TO THE U.S. HUGHES AH-64 ADVANCED ATTACK HELICOPTER. IT HAS A NARROW FUSELAGE, A POINTED NOSE SECTION, PODDED ENGINE NACELLES MOUNTED ON THE SIDE OF THE FUSELAGE, AND A STRAIGHT (UNSWEPT) TAIL BOOM. NO WEAPONS PYLONS, STUB WINGS, STABILATORS OR ROTOR SYSTEMS ARE OBSERVED. MOSKVA MIL DESIGN BUREAU AND EXPERIMENTAL FACILITY TOMILINO IS 12 NM SOUTHEAST OF MOSCOW AND IS THE LOCATION OF THE MIKHAIL MIL DESIGN BUREAU.
