Papers presented at a session devoted to chemotherapy
are summarized. A. F . Bilibin called the side effects
of antibiotic therapy a -drug disease", in which acute
stages of a disease are transformed to a chronic con-
dition (e.g. dysentery), and in which such phenomena
as candida infections are provoked. G. F. Gauze
asserted that certain antibiotic preparations should be
held in reserve for treatment of infections resistant to
other antibiotics. According to Z. V. Yermol'yeva,
antibiotics can effectively halt carriage of typhoid.
S. G. Khaskin reported that injection of staphylococcus
anatoxin to pregnant women reduces the incidence of
mastitis Several papers were devoted to oncological
)roblems.
