KLSSINCER FROM: AL HAIO SUBJECT: Soviet Submarine Tenders in Cuban Waters The following is a chronology of port calls by Soviet submarine tenders in Cuban waters: Cienfuegos Tao Statement Mariel Casilda Antilles Havana Cienfuegos Loeft Caribbean 9 September - 10 October, 1970 13 October 15 - 31 October 19 - 24 November 7 - 12 December 15 - 18 December 21 - 27 December 3 January, 1971 ON-FILE NSC RELEASE INSTRUCTIONS APPLY The following are answers to your specific questions: (1) Length of stay in Cuban area on previous visit - 116 days. (2) Time tender remained in Cuban area following TASS statement of October 13, 1970 - 82 days (Cienfuegos - 7 days). (3) Length of time Soviet tender absent from Cuban area - 41 days.
