1. We have learned from Aide's Office here that Air Force
xequixes your plane to return to Washington after Z hour layover in
San Clerne7at season given is maintenance requirements fox aircraft
and pilot has pra}~ably briefed you on. this.. Understand that relief crew
will be here to fly plane on to Washington.
Z. Sa,~nce there axe na Air Farce flights available on following
day and assuming you will not need services of substantive staff .officers
a.nd that they would prefer to return. Washington as soon as possible even
though very fixed, we will plan on only Halperin, Loxd anal M~.tthews
remaining in San Clemente and wi11 make appxopriate arrangements.

Unfortunately, the President's heavy schedule involving
budget review, urgent assessment of Kissinger trip and meetings
on Middle East prior to Secretary of State's departure for London
at the end of this week, preclude rneeti:ng early next week. I have
discussed issue with Pete Peterson, and we are considering
alternate solution on urgent basis. Will keep you informed.
