The Nome factory of the United Steel Jorks, National Corroration,in Eladno (N51/1,59) employs about 10s000 12e000 workers and operates on throe eight- hour shifts a day. An additional 600 women prisoners from tho Forced Labor Camp in Dubi (I51/L9) also work in the factory. The requiroments of the Five Year Plan, which called for raising the production of the factory have made voluntary work briseades from Prague a necessity? About 20 busloads of brigade workers supplement every shirt. Production in the Nonov factory nas resumed immediately after 7orld 7ar II, but not until the beginning of 1950 was the output of semi-finished products 'or the Czechoslovak war program introduced. The factory is still being enlarged, and the modern discharging bridge affords a good opportunity for constructing additional blaat fuenaeos. The faci,$)ry conaists of the following insta11ations4 Three blast furracce? roach with a capacity of 150 tons of crude iron per shift, produce a total of 1350 tons of crude iron per three-shift day. One of the furnaces was built by CU-Sokolovo in 1946, another was finished in 1950, and the third was to go into operation in May 1951. b. There are 20-25 open hearth gas furnaces and, one electric recistance furnace all of which were installed in 1941-42. In addition there aro 12 old-type open hearth gas furnaces. The total daily capacity of the furnaces is about 400 ingots. es. The main rolling mill eon:Ante of various sections. Apeteednately 25 percent of the factory needs is covered by deliseries or poor quality oro from the maa9 while ? deliveries of high quality Swedish ore also fill some of the factory requirements.
