SUBJECT : 1966 Recruitment Brochure
1. Attached is the proposed text for CIA's 1966 Recruitment
Brochure which has been prepared at
in New York.
2. Some editing of the proposed text will be necessary of
course to tighten it in a few places and bring it in line with our
current situation. Meanwhile, however, we must determine
whether the general content of the text is acceptable. We would
appreciate your examining the brochure from the point of view of
its approach and particularly the advisability of including in the
text examples of Agency activities which are reflective of past
operations.
3. After obtaining your suggestions and those of Commander
Moran and others, we propose to seek Mr. Helms' advice regarding
the coverage in the proposed brochure and then prepare it for final
review.
4. We would appreciate your giving this matter your priority
attention.

We will need also to obtain an okay from Mr. Helms and perhaps the
Director before going to press with the brochure. Meanwhile, however,
we are soliciting your views and those of the Director of Security with
respect to the general content of the text. Your views along with those
of the Office of Personnel will be incorporated in the recommendation
the DD/S makes when the text is submitted to Mr. Helms for policy
review.
3. We are particularly interested in your reaction to the opening
portions of the proposed brochure, which disclose past operational
activities of the Agency.
