Present: Mr. Dulles, General Cabell, Mr. Bissell, Mr. Amory,
Mr. Lloyd, Mr. Kirkpatricc, Mr. Helms, Mr. Barnes,
Mr. Sheldon, Mr. Abbot Smith,
a. Noted he had received a telephone call from John
Eisenhower indicating that a movie commemorating the 10th
anniversary of the ChiCom Republic had been viewed with much
interest at the White House (it was made available by the FBI). The
Director stated that, upon checking, he had found that this film had
been in the Agency since January of this year, and commented we
could learn a few lessons about public relations from the FBI. He
pointed out that in all probability the Bureau had obtained this film
through a CIA operation. Mr. Amory undertook to determine if this
in fact was the case, and suggested that on an average of about once
a week he bring an acquisition list of films to the Deputies' Meeting
for the purpose of discussing whether any might be of interest to the
White House and other high government officials. It was also sug-
gested that the Director might wish to see the ChiCom film mentioned
above. Mr. Sheldon pointed out that he and the Watch Committee had
seen it and as he recalled, it was rather lengthy. The Director
remarked that, in any event, he might wish to sit through "part of it. "
b. Noted the distribution of the Weekly Covert Actions Sum-
mary and, after some discussion, it was agreed that consideration would
be given to furnishing selected items from this document to the JCS.
