The series is being coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group, the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production Center 1Pla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re- port was performed by the Production Center lP la. In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report. The area is secured by a fence and covers approximately 415 acres. Nakhichevan Army Training Area West is adjacent to the Army Barracks. The installation contains 27 barracks, 9 administration buildings, 78 dependents /officers quarters, and 35 miscellaneous buildings. The installation also contains a storage area with 36 warehouses and 4 motor pools with 15 vehicle storage buildings, 2 maintenance structures, and 30 miscellaneous buildings. Approximately 160 cargo trucks, 58 armored vehicles, and 100 other vehicles or pieces of equipment were visible on photography. An explosives 25X1 D storage site at the north end of the installation contains 3 revetted storage buildings, 6 probable earth-covered structures, 8 warehouses, and a guard hut (Figures 2 and 3). KEYHOLE missions have covered this installation since - 25XTD 25X1 D - In the motor pool areas, the buildings 25X1 D present in - ware dismantled and new build- 25X1 D ings were erected. Also, 7 single-story barracks were built in area Dl. Four multistory barracks were added to area D5 and the headquarters area (D3) was also constructed. Rail facilities are approximately 3 kilo- meters south of the city. Administration and Troop Housing Areas Area Dl contains 7 barracks, 1 adminis- tration building, 2 storage buildings, and 7 small support buildings. Area D2 contains 67 probable single dependents/officers quarters, 11 probable duplex dependents /officers quarters, and 3 support buildings. Area D3, a possible headquarters area, contains 1 two-story administration building and 5 support/administration buildings. Area D4 contains 11 two-story and 3 single- story barracks, 4 two-story and 3 single-story administration buildings, 4 storage buildings, and 14 support buildings. Area D5 contains 6 multistory barracks. General Storage Area Area E contains 36 warehouses. Ammunition Storage Area Area F is fenced and contains 3 revetted storage buildings, 6 probable earth-covered bunkers, 8 storage buildings, 1 guard hut, and a possible open storage area. Other Buildings Area H contains 8 support buildings and scattered vehicle revetments. Area J2 contains 4 vehicle storage buildings (one 350 by 50 feet, one 250 by 45 feet, one 280 by 45 feet, and one 150 by 50 feet) and 3 support buildings. In- this area con- tained approximately 45 armored vehicles, 5 probable prime movers, and 3 possible prime movers towing artillery. 25X1 D Area J3 is a motor pool containing 2 support buildings. In - this area contained 12 vehicles. Area J4 is a motor pool containing 1 admin- istration building and 4 storage/support build- ings. In - this area contained ap- proximately 20 vehicles. Athletic Fields Areas K1 and K2 each contain an oval exercise track. Area K3 is a swimming pool. Small-Arms Firing Range Area L is a small-arms firing range 400 feet long and 90 feet wide. Unidentified Facilities or Tracking Activity Area T is an unidentified area containing a 2-story irregularly shaped building, 1 storage building, 5 liquid storage tanks, a tall water tower and 3 unusual, circular ground scars. The 2-story building could possibly be a school or hospital.
