This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center iP la (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center 1Pla.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

An army training area is located 3 kilo-
meters (km) northeast of Dibuny and 20 km
north-northwest of Leningrad (Figure 1). It
is adjacent to Leningrad Army Barracks Dra-
nishki Leningrad Army
Barracks Sertolovo

Barracks
The training area covers approximately
9,600 acres and contains 14 probable barracks,
1 probable administration building, 10 probable
administration/barracks buildings, 3 possible
messhalls, 12 general storage buildings, 12 ve-
hicle/equipment maintenance and storage build-
ings, 100 miscellaneous support buildings, 2
guard towers, tank/assault-gun, flat- trajectory,
and small-arms firing ranges, wheeled- and
tracked-vehicle driver-training courses, and
bivouac areas (Figure 2).

Railroad Service
A spur from the double-track Leningrad-
Zelenogorsk railroad serves the POL storage
area.
Road Service
Aircraft Landing Strips
Four airfields are within 18 km of the
installation.
Administration and Troop Housing Areas
Area D1 is a bivouac area and contains ap-
proximately 100 possible tent bases in a wooded
area, 5 multistory probable administration/
barracks buildings, 2 possible messhalls, and
35 miscellaneous support buildings.
Area D2 contains 11 probable barracks
and 10 miscellaneous support buildings.
Area D3 contains 3 possible barracks, 1
probable administration building, 5 probable
administration/barracks buildings, 1 possible
messhall, and 7 miscellaneous support buildings.
General Storage Areas
Area El contains 6 possible general storage
buildings and 2 possible miscellaneous support
buildings.
Area E2 contains 6 possible general storage
buildings and 5 miscellaneous support buildings.
POL Storage Area
Area G is rail served and contains 17
vertical POL tanks, each 60 feet in diameter,
and 25 miscellaneous support buildings. The
installation probably serves both military and
civilian areas.
Other Buildings
Area H1 contains 23 range support struc-
tures.
Area H2 is a probable electric power
substation.
Equipment Storage/Maintenance Areas
Area J1 contains 2 vehicle/equipment
storage buildings (370 by 55 feet and 260 by
50 feet), 1 possible vehicle storage building

and 1 support building.
Area J2, a secured vehicle/equipment pool,
contains 8 vehicle/equipment storage buildings
(five 250 by 55 feet and three 180 by 50 feet),
1 probable maintenance building (180 by 75
feet), and 15 miscellaneous support buildings.
Athletic Field
Area K is an athletic field.
Small-Arms Firing Range
Area L is a 1200- by 100-foot small-arms
firing range.
Driver-Training Areas
Area Ml contains 2 driver-training courses.
The external loop is a cross-country course.
The internal loop is a flat course with gap-
crossing obstacles.
Area M2 is a closed-loop driver-training
course which appears to be little used.
Areas M3 and M4 are cross-country
driver-training courses.
Area MS contains 2 driver-training courses.
The external loop has 2 large mounds as
obstacles.
Area M6 is a probable wheeled-vehicle
training-course with a figure-8 turning circle.
Tank/Assault-Gun Firing Range
Area N is a 4,000-foot tank/assault-gun
firing range with two 1,200-foot lanes and five
900-foot lanes and 4 moving targets. The
area appears ro be used for crew-training in
conjunction with driver-training areas M3, M4,
and M5.
Flat-Trajectory Firing Ranges
Area 1'l is a 2,000-foot flat-trajectory
firing range with 6 probable moving targets,
6 probable firing positions, and an A13C loop.
Area P2 is a 2,000-foot flat-trajectory
firing range with 2 probable moving targets,
3 probable firing positions, and 2 range support
buildings.
