ITATKA ICBM COMPLEX, USSR
The Itatka ICBM Complex, located about 28 nautical miles (nm) northea:;t
of the industrial and transportation center of Tomsk, extends generally north-
ward from the small village of Itatka for a distance of approximately 11 nni.
The low-lying wooded terrain in the vicinity, dissected by numerous small
tributaries of the Chulym river, is characteristic of this part of Siberia. Tl- e
area north of the complex, between the confluence of the Chulym and Ob
rivers, is largely swampland.
The complex (Figure 1) includes a complex support facility, a rail-to-road
transfer point, 2 Type IIB launch sites, and 1 Type IID launch site. The rail
facilities serving the complex consist of 2 short spurs from a branch of tt.e
Tomsk/Asino rail line. The function of the unidentified area east of the cor.m-
plex support facility has not been determined, but the active road patterns in-
dicate a possible relationship to the complex. The complex can be negated cn
the complex support facility, rail-to-road transfer
point, and Launch Site 1 were first observed under construction on Missicn
