This memorandum is in response to the referenced requirement which asks for a chronological analysis of Shubra Al Kheima Military Factory No. 27, Egypt, which is reported to manufacture small ass ammunition. 2. The enclosed information provides a comparative analysis of factory 25X1D No. 27 from depicting the expansion and activity of this facility during this period. 25X1D 3. Construction of military factory No. 27 was largely completed by the end of The plant encompasses forty-five acres and is bounded by a res- idential area to the, north and the Cairo Thermal Power Plant (north) to the north-,rest. - - 25X1 D the main production building, powder-loading building, receiving and storage building, and a. machine shop - were completed. Numerous small administrative/research buildings and support facilities were also erected or under construction. Excavation for seven reveted bunkers, probably for propellant and initiator storage, were underway. Three minor assembly buildings were also observed under construction. A security wall had been erected around the plant area and was being equipped-with guard towers. The plant is served by two good hard surfaced roads and a single-track railroad. _ 25X1 D 4. An admin- istrative/research building was under construction just north of the test range, and another largeibuilding was.observed under construction outside- the plant area near the northeast gate. The purpose of the latter is not clear because of its location outside of the factory complex. occured since the last mission. A workshop was constructed north of the powder- loading building.
