PREFACE
This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a PIA 'CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated,, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NI'IC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPI(:), and the Production
Center 1Pla (ICI.\). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center 1Pla.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilltie!A observed at these install ations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (.A) railroad service, 131 road service, (C.) landing strips,
Dl administrative and troop housing areas, (1.) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POI, storage areas; (I1) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage "maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (Al) driver training areas, (N) tank '
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firingranges, (() artillery
emplacements (hatteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special 'training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity'.

These installations (Figures 2 and 3) cover
administration buildings were_ removed; I bar-
racks was extended, 5 barracks were removed,
and 3 new barracks were added; I storage
building was extended, 7 new storage build-
ings were constructed, and 10 storage build-
ings were removed; 2 vehicle storage/main-
tenance buildings were added, I was moved
to another location, and I was removed.

appear to contain the 6 1'OL tanks visible
on I ALL\ i photography of- I1o%vevcr,
this is probably due to the smaller scale
of K1:\lIOLL photography. ,
142 acres and contain 10 administration build-
ings, 41 barracks, 43 storage buildings, 46
vehicle storage/maintenance buildings, and 2 -
storage buildings in a rrcported POL storage
area.
A single-track spur from the main rail
line passes between these 2 installations, and
a short rail spur enters the storage area.
Road Service
Two primary roads pass through these,
installations. One road then. crosses the
Nemunas River and enters Kaunao-' Arm
no I'UL tank-- are discernible on current pho-
