ar~cl elsewhere to the US5~, beCause of pressure from the Soviet Union which
h~~s solidified its "bridyehead" in Indochina, the Soviet Union would be able
t~ contr�ol maritime traffic passing through the Strait of Malacca by using
i r.5 baSE~s in Thai land and Cam Ranh Bay.
IlowE~ver, th~ appearance of such a situation would not only threaten the
South Chin~~ Sea route for transporting natural resources to our own country,
but woul~i have such a great influence that it would destroy the strategic
balance in Asi~ and thc~ pacific.
