FU-SHUN IRON AND STEEL PLANT
FU-SHUN, CHINA
The Fu-shun Iron and Steel Plant is located at 41 50N - 123 48E in
the western section of Fu-shun, China.
The complex consists of two separate sections: the east section
contains one side blown converter shop, one probable blooming/rolling
mill, a forge/foundry complex, a fabrication section, and numerous support
buildings. The west section includes two blast furnaces, a possible rolling
mill, a probable ore processing or sintering plant, a large unidentified
monitor roof building, one building under construction I I and
numerous support buildings.
Photography I I revealed heavy smoke emanating
from most of the facilities in the east section. On the same photography,
the west section appeared to be idle. The rail and road traffic was at
a moderate level. Photography revealed
that most of the facilities in the east section were emitting heavy smoke
while the western section again appeared idle. Road and rail traffic
appeared to be at a moderate level in both sections of the plant. The
new building (Figure 2, annotation 5) appeared completed. Photography
I I revealed the addition of a few small
buildings in the east section. Small scale and poor quality precluded
a determination of facilities operating or the amount of traffic on this
mission.
On photography I Ithe only facilities
emitting. smoke were the forge/foundry complex an the fabrication section.
The east section of the steel plant appeared to have a moderate amount
of rail and road activity and the west section appeared to be void of any
vehicular activity. The building under construction in (Figure 2,
annotation 6) is either at the same stage of construction as reported
previously or has been dismantled.
