Approved For Re.Iease 2005/02/17 CIA-R~P78B04770g001400010020-5 NPIC/TSSG/DED-lLl5-68 8 March 1968 Declass Review by NGA. NPIC/TSSG/DP/818-68, Dated 1 March 1968 The following comments amplify some of the statements in 1. Paragraph 3c seems to indicate a misunderstanding. I was in a hurry to forward a list of technical specifications to the West Coast so that the document could be included with other documentation necessary for the contract negotiations with is not otherwise involved with 2. The equipment mentioned in Paragraph 3b will be available to during design of the Rapid Alignment Device as well as when required for necessary testing. 3. Paragraph 3e indicates discussion of specifications for shock for the` production units. All of the specifications in Paragraph 4 were similarly dis. cussed and it was agreed that those specs, as well as the one mentioned in Paragraph 3e, were unnecessary in the statement of requirements for a protot unit, but desirable in any possible future production units. 25X1 25X1 25X1 1. The goal mentioned in Paragraph 5 is certainly admirable. It would be very helpful if the Equipment Performance Branch would suggest a pre-accept- ance test plan for the prototype Rapid Alignment Device that could be performed at the Contractor's facility, and a program of final acceptance tests to be performed in-house. Also useful would be similar suggestions for testing any future production units of the Rapid Alignment Device. Presumably such tests would include: Mechanical inspection tests - Ease of operation, Markings, labels, Completeness of equipment, Fit of components, Check of optical protect5on features; Performance tests - Brightness tests, Distortion tests, Defocussing, Magnification, Image rotation, Light transmission, Resolution, Evaluation critc-ria of operator and maintenance manuals and any other tests considered desirable b-- the EPB. The suggestions would hopefully include allowable limits for the part.- meters that are within our in-house capability.
