Mr. Allen Dulles, Director

2130 E Street, N. W.
Washington, D. C.
Dear Mr. Dulles:
As you may know from your aides, after my brief talk with
you last fall, this Institute has moved decisively to
stimulate the teaching of the nature and scope of Communism
in the public schools.
Our major project each year is the Military-Industrial
Conference in Chicago in April; and this year we are devoting
that entire Conference to this problem.
We are still very much hoping that your busy schedule will
permit you to address this Conference at the luncheon on
Monday, April 10th.
People who have already accepted as other speakers include
Dr. William Y. Elliott of Harvard; Dr. Samuel Brownell, the
former Commissioner of Education; Dean John Fisher of Columbia
Teachers' College; and Admiral Arleigh Burke.
Leading citizens from business, labor and the professions will
also be present as will, of course, a great many high school
superintendents, principals and teachers.
Inasmuch as we must mail our program out very shortly, I do
hope you can find it possible to be with us.
Faithfully,
Frank R. Barnett
