Dear Stuyvesant:
Thank you for your letter of 6 March 1957. It has been a
year sisvaee we have had our "st t d discussion" aCn legislative
matters. Although my personal f logs on the problems we dig -
cuss, are not altered *Inc* I last spoke to you,, I would be most
inter d to have the benefit of your current thoughts and opinions
on these and ether matters affecting our Ageaacy. particularly in
the light of the situation which exists in the now Congress. I am
strays happy to talk things over with my Congressman, and if you
feel so inclined. I would be deligi .d if you would drop in and see
me some time at your conventem .
Regarding the main subject swatter of your lettaer, I can
state that we are eztrevaely interested in the international aspects
of this +e, and that we are working in close cooperation with the
i`ederal Bureau of Investigation and other interested agencies.
Under our legislative mandate, however. we are precluded from
the performance of any functions in the internal security field.
Therefore I am not able to comment on your specific inquiry with
regard to events which might have taken place at the airport in
Amityville, which would fall within the proper Jurisdiction of the
local police and of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
With kindest regards.
Sincerely,
Allen W. Dulles

It's an amazing thing that a year has gone by without our
standard discussion in regard to legislation. However, a recent
event which received considerable notoriety in Life Magazine in-
volved not only my Congressional District, but also an incredible
invasion of a human being's personal protection in our country.
I am referring to the matter which is more commonly called the
"affair de Galindez."
Without going into the details, with which you are undoubtedly
familiar, my interest stems from the fact that--specifically--the
kidnapped man was reportedly placed on a plane at Zahns Airport in
Amityville, Long Island. Scuttlebutt has led me to believe that
your organization had effectively diagnosed the case in advance.
If this is true, it would be a great feather in the organization's
mantle. At the same time, I am extremely worried lest this airport
might be used for other conspiracies of this sort.
I wonder if it would be possible, without breaching security,
to let me know whether my fears are warranted in regard to Zahns
Airport--or whether this information and information of this kind
will be or was given to other Federal agencies prior to the event's
taking place.
Very truly yours,
