INTRODUCTION 25X1
T'uis report presents the results of an extensive search of
TALENT photography by a joint Army, Navy, CIA photographic intelligence
team, in an effort to confirm or deny the existence of alleged guided missile
launch sites in the European Satellites. This search has been based on a
comprehensive review of reports through 31 December 1958, which concern
a total of approximately 456 alleged missile sites.
II. SUMI4ARY
No positive photographic evidence of guided missile launch sites
was derived from TALENT photography of the -European Satellites.
However, it must be noted that: (1) only about 30 percent of the area
-occupied by the Satellite countries is covered by adequate TALENT photog-
raphy; (2) of the ,approximately 456 alleged missile launch sites, only 139
locations are covered by adequate TALENT photography; and (3) most of
the reports of guided missile activity in the Satellites are based on infor-
mation later than the -date of the TALENT photography. The following
tabulation summarizes data on coverage and alleged sites.
