The Iluang-pu Naval Base a small steel plant are under construction along the eastern edge of the base. Approx- imately 33 buildings have been removed and 35 buildings constructed during the period ofr' _ comparative coverage is located approximately 9 nautical miles east-southeast of Kuang-chou *(Canton), on Iluang-pu Tao (Island) facing the Chu Chiang (River). DESCRIPTION The Naval Base (Figure 2) extends, along the northern edge. of tl*ie island and is under- going considerable renovation and expansion. new marine railway, a building ramp and A land reclamation area is located along the western edge of the yard, where the western faces of the hills have been squared off and a small retaining wall installed parallel to them. Numerous areas of open storage for building materials are in this - area. . One graving dock has been abandoned and was not in use during the entire period of this report.
