Discussion
The statistical tables which follow in this attachment are
designed to illustrate the valuation which may be attached to the
estimated tables of equipment of Type-63 Soviet motorized rifle and
tank divisions. The quantities of ammunition are the basic loads for
the respective divisions as shown in the Department of the Army, Project
No. P3-12, Organization and Logistical Data on Soviet Ground Forces,
1 January 1963,. adjusted for the Type-63 tables of equipment.
Caveat
The dollar unit costs are those used in the CIA/RR EP 63-46 and
as applied here should be taken only as indicators of general price
levels because they were designed primarily for use in the accumulation
of values for measurement of over-all levels of Soviet military expenditures.
The unit costs are intended to reflect the equivalent cost of production
of items in the US (See op. cit. on Pricing Methodology, Paragraph
B. Page 1-2.)
B. Statistical Tables
For a more complete description of the items the reader is re-
ferred to such works as US Army Identification Handbook Soviet and Satellite
Ordnance Equipment., Revised Edition, September, 1960, and US Army Catalog
of Foreign Materiel, Volume 1. Combat Materiel, January 1963 (Secret)
or their equivalent.
