SPECIAL MEETING OF SUGGESTION AWARDS COMMITTEE
WEDNESDAY, 26 JUNE 1957
On Wednesday, 26 June 1957 at 2:00 P.M. in
Room 2601 Curie Hall, chaired the 25X1A
Special Meeting of the CIA Suggestion Awards Committee
to consider the awards for three Special Suggestions Nos.
1376, 1847, and 1937.

End of The Executive Secretary read the announcement of
the new Committee and Special Panel members for fiscal year
1958.
The Chairman thanked the Committee members for their
assistance during the past year.
The Chairman asked the Committee members to return
SAS handbooks to the Staff for revision.

Honor Awards The Chairman explained that copies of the Staff
Board Study on the three Special Suggestions had been sent to
for consideration at. the Honor Awards Meeting.
The suggestions were discussed at the meeting Friday, 21
June 1957, The Executive Secretary attended that meeting
and reported that the Honor Awards Board concluded: "They
will entertain any.recomaendation for an Honor Award if it
is submitted to them though they cannot initiate such a
request. If the Clandestine Services wish to submit recom-
mendations in this case, the Board will consider them."

4 suggesters. The Agency regulation provides the vote be
unanimous and if there is a recorded difference, the DD/S
would resolve it.

The Chairman opened the meeting to discussion of
the proposed awards for Suggestions Nos. 1376, 1847, and
1937. The discussion covered a review of savings and bene-
fits derived from these three suggestions and other sug-
gestion awards in the $10,000 to $20,000 category.
AiscuL" Individual discussion resulted in a compromise
Q,L between some sentiments favoring a $10,000 award and others
Mount favoring $5,000. The result was for a total award for
Suggestions Nos. 1376 and 1847 for $7,500 for intangible
benefits and $775 for tangible savings. This total of
$8,275 to be rounded off to $8,000 and split as follows:

1937 resulted in agreement on an amount of $400 for
intangible benefits and $55 for tangible savings.
This total of $455 to be rounded off to $500 for Mr.
