The ammonia method of recovering Ni from its ores ( ' serpentines) resolves itself to reduction by heat of the finely ground serpentine at 620-6500 and leaching by an ammonia solution of the following composition: 15016 NH 6*5% (NH ) CO the reaction being: NiO + 2 NH4 OH + (MR') CO Vi (N~?'), + 3 H,O 4 = 3 3 ~.Transl Ed. The re- sultant solutions contain the h1g2+ and Niz _i. cations in the form of ammonia complexes; Mg may ~,lso be recovered in processing Card 1/2 serpentines, with an ~4ttendint reduction in the cost of Ni recovery. 13 7- 19 58- 1-461 Hydrometallurgical. Recovery of Nickel (cont.) Subject article presents the re- sults of the polymerization of acetaldehyde with catalyzers other than alumina according to P.A. Bovey and R.C. Wands. The authors studied the polymerization of acetaldehyde under the catalytic action of silicium-alumina and thorium oxide. The silicium-alumina had a 90% content of s1licium and 10% of alumina, pH = 6, spherical granules, 3 mm in diameter. The thorium oxide was pre-Dared by calcin- ing thorium nitrate at 6000C. The polymeri- zation of liquid acetaldehyde led to the production of only liquid polymers.
