Abstracti The ecology of arboviruses permits a combined source of infection.
Simultaneous infection with Japanese encephalitis and other group A and B
arboviruses were observed. Features in the growth of ecperimental mixed
infections were studied for group A (Sindbis + Gets, group B (West Rile +
Japanese encephalitis), and group A + B (West Nile + Sindbis). Several
different Immunological phenotypes were observed and characterized, The
interaction of -the individual virus type in a mixture nnay be related to its
phenotype. Differences were observed i-n the experimental A + B mixtures.

Abstract: The process of formation of the microstructure and mechanical

"Some Properties of Extruded Aluminum Eutectic Alloys"
Moscow, Fizika i Khimiya Obrabotki Materialov, No 5. Sep-Oct 72, pp 54-59
Abstract: A study was made to evaluate Vie possibility of producing fibrous
structures in aluminum eutectic alloys by means of extrusion and to deter-
mine their mechanical and physical properties. Two groups of alloys were
studied. In the first group the volume percentage of the strengthening phase
was small (5 to 15%): 1--Al-Al3Fe, 2--Al-A1611n, 3--Al-Al Ni 4--Al-Al4Ce,
5--Al-Si and 6--Al engtLn'
-Mg2Si; in the second group the str ing phase amount-
ed to almost 50%: 7--Al-A12CU, 8--Al-Al3Mg2; 9--Al-MgZn2 and l0--Al-S(Al2CuMg).
It was established that the strengthening phase in the Al-A13~'f92 alloy has a
fibrous structure as a result of hot extrusion and annealing, while the
strengthening phase in the other investigated systems is crushed after ex-
trusion. The highest strength properties at room temperature in the hot-
extruded state are achieved in alloys containing approximately equal volumes
of the strengthening phase and matrix (Al-AlP92, Al-AlqCu, Al-MgZn2, and
Al-Al2Cu-N1g), at a very low value of relative elongation: At 400'C these
alloys exhibit superelasticity. The coefficient of ultrasonic damping for

macrostructure homogenized at 560* for 24 hours with a 300 x 12200 mm cross sec-
tion cast by the continuous casting mthod. Hot deformation of the ingots was
done.- at 400-360* with a total degree of deformation of 96.5%. Cold deforma-
tion was carried out with a degree of deformation of 80% witnout interradiate
annealing. The kinetic curves were constructed for 200-600* every 50*. Th e
controllable properties were G B 3'G0.2)ald 6. The isochrons a B and 6 were con-

the annealed specitnens of sheet technical aluminum of 07o compositions are pre-
sented. The process of recrysLallization of the cold-rolled ADOO and jOl alumnun

develops as recrystallization in situ. The difference in the kinetics of the
recrystallization process is caused by different type of substructure arising
during the process of polygonization at increased temperatures. The consequence
of the different dislocation structure of the cold-rolled aluminum is a different
mechanism of the polygonization process at increased temperatures. This
different (Uslocation structure is, in turn, caused by a different nature of the
plinses and degree of hoterophase nature of the initial. titrucLuru of the
ingot. Three' illustrations and a 7-entry bibliography.

"Transformation of Postrotation Rotatory Nystagmus into Contralateral
Nystagmus"
Moscow, Vestnik Otorinolaringologii, No 1, 1971, pp 12-14
Abstract: Forty-six patients with vestibular disorders differing in nature
and localization were rotated at a speed of 108'fsec for one minute. In 32,
rotatory nystagmus on only one side changed into contralateral horizontal
nystagmus while rotatory nystagmus an the opposite side remained normal.
In 14, rotatory nystagmus on both sides changed into contraiateral hori-
zontal nystagmus. In 31, postrotation rotatory nystagmus on the side of
decreased vestibular excitability changed into contralateral nystagmus to-
ward the side of increased vestibular excitability. Thus, postrotation
rotatory nysta&mus, which should be in the directic-.1 of lov vestibular
excitability, is transformed into contralateral horizontal nystagmus tcylard
the labyrinth with high vestibular tone or it is in the same direction as
spontaneous horizontal nystagmus. This transformation is attributed to the

Abstrac : The aathor Dresents the static output and Iii;ht characteristics of
FIG-3 type germanium transi stors switched in according to a scheme vvith a co=,on
emitter. The characteristics are obtained using a test unit-i--ith a special cali-
brated lamp with Tc = 2854011. Graphoanalytic calculations of the characteristics
for various levels of illl=ination show that the static coefficient of photo-
transistor amplification -;s practically constant with respect to Acurrent in the
100 to 400 lux range. The experimental static characteristics of phototransistors
show that their switchizig according to a --chemme with a comon emitter nialkes pos-
sible the joint control of collector current while varying the intensity of the
emission source and base current value without evoking large, nonlinear distortions.

alkanes. 'Biese reactions Droceed simultaneously and the products readily
hydrolyze, react ,rith wraines, alcohols, and phenols. in a further reaction
sequence, the Dhenyldic'-qlorophosDhazopolychloroalkanes v%~re treated with
arenesulfamide. RCC12N~-PC12X + 112NS02Ar --, 211C1 I.(C// NSO.,Ar

This reaction proceeds slowly in the temperature range of 110-1300. The product
is easily hyd-rolyzed, reacts with alcohols, amines and phenols to forrn phenyl-
dichlorophosphazo-li-ai-jlcsulfonylir,iinopolychloro acyl compounds.

Translation: This Author's Certificate introduces a method of making di-
alkox.yphosphonoacetyl chlorides. As a distinguishing feature of the patent,
tert-butyl esters of dialkoxyphosphonoacetic acids are treated with phosphorus
pentachloride at a temperature of not more than 20*C with subsequent isolation
of the products by conventional methods.

Abstract: The esters of dialkylphosphonoacetic acids (1) are alkylated with
methyl iodide; one or both hydrogen atoms of the nietl-*,~ene group are reP1,10ed,
When I are treated with aqueous ammonia, the correspording amides are formed.
The 1~~tter react with oxalyl chloride to yield phosphoi-jlacyl isocyana-tes.
Treatment of I with phosphorus (V) chloride will --rodwe replacement of either
one or both of th-e aLvcoxy groups at the phosphorus atom of 1 by chlorine. 't-'ith
soctium cyanate, I yield isocyanates which, when treated with amines, yield
substituted ureas.
