A Coxsackie virus epidemic in a Moldavian village ('L') in the summer of 1956
comprised 9 manifest cases: 3 'paralytic' (reversible). 3 myalgic, 2 severe grip-
pal and 2 mild grippal. Coxsackie virus was isolated 74 times from stools of 65
inhabitants. of . 211 persons examined, 30.Bl% were carriers of the virus. but the
proportion of virus excretors among members of households in which a case had
occurred was 63.716. Virus was also isolated twice from flies from 2 houses. All
virus strains isolated belonged to Dalldorf group A. and were myotropic and pro-
bably of one single antigenic type. Children and adolescents (1-14 yr.) were the
most affected (36%), with a maximum between I and 6 yr.; the proportion of adult
cases was 221%. There was no difference between the sexes. Successive cases
(manifest or inapparent) in a family occurred at intervals of 30-40 days. Infection
occurred in 40.8% of houses. The duration of virus excretion was 54 days in 2
cases. In manifest cases the virus disappeared shortly after the onset of illness.
and at the same time neutralizing antibodies appeared in the serum where they
persisted for at least 5 months. increasing during the first few months. To es-
tablish an aetiological diagnosis it is necessary to demonstrate the appearance or
a Large rise in titre of antibody to the &train isolated from the patient or the com-

influenza B involved 17 of 40 children and 4 of 25 staff in a children's
home in Iassi. Diagnosed serologically in that period while influenZa A

ABSTRACT: Mom accurate equations of the motions in continuous control systems with
extremum self-adjustment of the general gain coefficient with near-pariodic test si
are derived in terms of the frequency spectrum. It is assumed that the linear system
components are described by their frequency characteristics. A method for analyzing
system stability without resorting to differential equations is proposed.. 7he result-
ing equations are compaxed to those obtained by the method of coefficient "freezing".
