TITIE: Efficiency of planetary mechanisms in two-and-three
stage gear boxes of automobiles

TMIT: ' In this article the author examines losses in planetary
mechanisms: Determination of efficiency in toothed transmissions is
made according to the f ormula It I sp I b where 9 sp - coeff-
icient determining the losses due to.oil splashing; rq coef icient
determing the losses in bearings; I.t - efficiency of ~oo-thed fear-
ing. Determination of losses on driven shaft is also examined. The
efficiency of gear boxes on automobiles 3r0 -111 (ZIL-111) is equal
to 0.98 for outside gearing and 0.99 for inside gearing. In further
calculations these values are taken as equal to 0.975 and 0.985.
A table is presented showing the comparative efficiency values of
planetary transmissions for 3 Soviet and 7 American automobiles:

the efficiency shorom in the table is 96.976. For comparison's sake
the values of losses in hydraulic transmission of Studebaker are

ABSTRACT: The authors draw attention to the importance of economics
in production costs in the overall plan for the "building
of communism" in the USSR adopted at the 21st Meeting of
the KPSS (CPSU), and state that the non-ferrous metals
industry has an important role to play. The industry has
already undertaken to exceed its target by over
600 mIllion roubles and to save 125 million roubles and

to introduco many suggestions with a total rated annual
cost-savin- value of over 350 million roubles. The
authors are confident that these undertakings will be more
than fulfilled, and- go on-to discuss possible reserves of
production. One of theso is inoroased use of openeast
mining methods with efficient equipment. Calculations by

industry. The authors-complain that improved mining
equipment is not being provided and in other cases not
being applied. In the complox utilization of raw
matorials and recovery of metals from waste products many
shortcomings remain in spite of favourable results
obtained at soma effterprises, and the authors hold the
Gosplan SSSR (USSR) -to be blameworthy. In the intro-
duction of new methods, such as those based on the use of
oxygen, uluch remains to be done and insufficient attention
is being given to this problem by the Gosplans of the
Ka-zakhskaya (Ka--akh) SSR and the RSFSR and by various
economic counuils. Tho authors give examples of poor
practice at various works.and defects in the supply and
capital construction positions, and point" out the
economic significanca of idle stock and plant. They

ABSTRACT: In a carbon rod of 6 mm in diameter a longitudinal oval groove 1 mm deep
and 4 mm wide (along the chord), is drilled, which is filled with the
substance ground to 200 mesh; the rod is set in motion at a rate of
1.5 mm/sec. The spectra are excited in an a-c are at 10 a with an upper
carbon electrode and an arc gap of 1.5 mm and are photographed with an
average quartz spectrograph with a 3-stage clearing agent and a slit
0.015 mm wide; 0.18 g of Ni are introduced Into 1 g of the sample. The
calibrating graphs in the coordinates AS, versus lgC are plotted by
the lines (in A): Cu 2824.3-Ni 2821.2 and Ca 3179-9-Ni 3145-7. For
eliminating the effect of third elements the samples and standards are
diluted by a mixture (1 1 1) of soda and coal powder in the ratio of

Abstract: In the course of 30 days, boiler scale obtained
from safe and unsafe endeuic goiter (EG) regions
was added to the food of rats and guinea pigs.
The weiSht of the thyroid gland (TG) in the guinea
pigs increased in the first case. The histological
picture of the TG corresponded to colloid goiter.
