from the standpoint of orbital radii, obtained by integrating equations.
lbo author vas able to show the existence of significant mutual polariza-
tlon of atoms , the Interaction of electron conf Iguratlons, part la I exc I tnt Ion
of valency states, and the role of d-electrons. Other papers were presented
on the carbon-phosphorous bond at energies approaching 62 kilocalories, research
on organophosphorous compounds enployin" nuclear magnetic resonance, the
chemistry of phosphorous Isocyanates, and ditsocynates. E. Ye. Vifantlyev,
presented a report on the chemistry of asters of acids containing trIvalent
phosphorous and sugars. Other papers covered alkylation of glycoaridophosphites,
thermal conversion of amidoesterg of methylphosphonic acid-, the kinetics of
thermal conversion of amidoesters of methylphosphonic acid, and others.

TIUG I Solvation of ions in electrolyte solutions. Part 3.- Drop in poten-
tial on the aqueous solution - gaseous phase boundary.
FOrlOdIcal I Zhur. fiz. khim. 8, 1451-1457, Aug 1954
Abstract i The real free-energies of solvation of nunerous ions in aqueous solu-
tions were computed on the basis of a critical analysis. By comparing
the real free solvation-energies with the chemical free solvation-
energies, the authors calculated the drop in potential on the aqueous
solution, gajeous phase boundary, which is - O-3jO-1 v. Thirty-two

Title S Integral heats of solution bf certain alkali halide calts in
anhydrous solvents at 250.
Periodical t Dok. All SSSR 9e/11 103-106, Sep 11 1954
Abstract g The integral heat of solution of NO in acetone, methylethyl ketone,,
allyl alcohol, furfurolo, pyridinet piporidinet acetonitrile and
the heats of solution of NaCl, NaBr, NaJ and NJ In formamide,
were investigated at 250 with the aid of a special micro-calorimeter.
The results obt,-,ined are given in tables. The accuracy of the
obtained integral heats of solution was established at r--0 1%.

Title Upon The Formation Possibility of Positive Halogen Ions In
Aqueous Solutions.
Orig Pub: Zh. prikl. khirdi, 1957, 30, Ito 5, 665-674.
Abstract: The changes of thermodynamic potentials and the equilibrium
constants of formation reactions of C14, Br4' and T+ In aqueous
solutions were computed by the method of thermodynamic cycles.
A little thermodynamic probability of the existence of these
cations in aqueous solutions was established, their formation
capability decreasing from iodine the chlorine; the most pr-3-
bable, processes of such cation formation are interaction re-
actions of hypohalites with corresponding acids. The compu-
tations carried out for hypochlorite solutions, as well as
