PERIODICAL: Radio, 10/53, 11,"r 9, pp IS - 22 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: The set was designed by the author to be copled and cor-
structed by radio amateurs with average experience. It
has 13 tubes and 12 program channels. The picture screen
has a diagonal of 43 cm. The incomine signal passes via
the cl-annel selector unit (figure 2) through 3 IF stages
to a transistor diode videodetector and thence through a
stage of vidio-frequency amplification. From here the
sound passes through an IF sound amplifier to a 2-stage
AF sound amplifier and to the loudspeaker. The svnchron-
izing pulses are separated in the selector, are fed t-- the
synchronizing pulse amplifying stage and or., to the vert-
ical and horizontal scanning units. A tricde is used as
a line blocking oscillator, followed by the line out7ut
stap,e. A similar system is used for the frame blocking
oscillator and output. Pulses are taken from the outu.1t
of the horizontal sweep and videoamplifier and are fed re-
spectively to the plate and grid of the key automatic gain
control triode. Fr---,m this, the adjusting voltage is fed
to the input of the channel selection unit and to the grids

TITLE: Tuning the TV Set "Komsomolets"
PERIODICAL: Radio, 1959, Nr ?, pp 40 - 41 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: The author describes the tuning procedures for the
TV set "Komsomolets" of which the description was
-Published in "Radio", 1958, Nr 9. A great number
of radio amateurs requested additional information
on the tuning procedure. For tuning, standard signal
generators GSS-6 and SG-1 (GMV or GSS-?) and a high-
resistance voltmeter are used. There are 4 Soviet

ABSTRACT: A new method for cleaning the filters of wells is based on
the effect of pressure waves, produced by the detonation
of long blasting charges of detonating cords, placed along
the axis of the well. In the experiments conducted by the
authors, from I to 4 sections of the detonating cord DShV
(corresponding 13 - 52 gr of VV) were used for each running

freed the filters of sedimentst but also proceeded into the
adjacent rook formations. The authors give a detailed des-

TEXT: In order to detect the cations of 1st, 2nd, 3rd analytical groups on
the paper chromatograms, the application of thioacetamide, ammonium
thiocarbamate, Na ethyl xanthogenate, Na 2CSY thiocarbamide and Na 2S 203
is investigated. It is shown, that in a number of cases some of the 1-isted
reagents may be successfully used instead of H 2S. Since the process of
precipitating heavy metals with th16acetamide and similar reagents is
proceeding slowly, some difficulties may be experienced in the detection
of cations of the let, 2nd and 3rd analytical groups on the paper
chromatograms and results may be negative, in spite of the fact that in the

solutions these reactions take place without difficulty. When the
chromatograme are heated with the object of accelerating the56 reactions
with simultaneous formation of sulfides, their oxidation may also take
place, which is facilitated by the large surface. This refers especially
to PbS (the spot disappears). The most efficient reagents investigated
are thioacetamide and Na2CSY which form precipitates of sulfides on the
chromatograms fairly quick, 'When ammonium thiocarbamate is used, the
chromatograms must be preheated. Thiocarbamide, Na ethyl santhogenate and
Na2 so3give the worst results. The sensitivity of the reaction on the

order as with H2S, and in s. number of cases even a little higher (Ks

Abstract In observation of the eclipse of the sun at 600 Mcs, on 30
June 1954, was observed at the military academy in Bemowc)
near Warsaw. The antenna was a paraboloid 6 meters in diameter.
The receiver was of the modulation type. The frequency of
modulation was 20 cps. i, curve of the clipse, aorrected for
possible errors, is given. The intensity of the radio waves
during the instant of the maximum phase of theeclipse amounted
to 25% of the intensity outside the eclipse. A model of the
distribution of the radial brightness over the disk of the
sun was plotted. The radio radius of the sun is estimated
to be 1.4k . Thereis a brightening towards the edge with a
